'It was with a heavy heart that she gave us that information and that we received it,' said Will And Grace co-creator Max Mutchnick in 2017 about her passing on the new series.

Before Will And Grace, Morrison was best known for playing Sister Sixto on The Flying Nun alongside Sally Field from 1967 to 1970.

Much of the humor on that earlier series was based around the character's poor English skills.

After playing multiple maid characters, Morrison had instructed her agent to ignore future domestic staff characters, though she still accepted for Will And Grace.

During her first appearance on the season one finale, her employer Karen (Mullally) belittles her as if to suggest she couldn't speak English well, though viewers later learned that her English was impeccable.

In order to get around her undocumented immigration status, Karen plotted a sham marriage for Rosario to Jack so she could get her green card. The fake couple divorced in the second season to free her up for new romantic dalliances.

Her 50-year career saw her guest-star on dozens of television series, starting in the early 1960s, including The Fugitive, L.A. Law and Murder, She Wrote.

Most recently, she voiced the character Mrs. Portillo on the Disney animated series Handy Manny.

Born Rachel Mitrani to Jewish parents from Spain in the Bronx, New York, in 1936, Morrison spoke primarily Spanish as a child.

She was cast mostly as Latina characters, though she played a range of ethnicities in theater, television and film.

Her movie roles put her in casts alongside Hollywood´s biggest stars of several eras.

She appeared with Dean Martin in 1968's How to Save a Marriage and Ruin Your Life, with Barbara Streisand in Funny Girl the same year and with Gregory Peck in 1969's Mackenna's Gold.

Later film roles placed her alongside Shelley Long in Troop Beverly Hills in 1989 and with Salma Hayek in 1997's Fools Rush In.
